If you’ve read my previous blog posts then you know I’ve chosen to follow the Biblical Classical education model with the Principle Approach and the Foundation for American Christian Education (FACE).

One of the stronger points of the Principle Approach is Providential History. This approach to studying history seeks to explore God’s providential hand in history.

The primary focus of The Noah Plan curriculum produced by FACE is America’s providential history. How America came to be and the individuals God used to effect history. There’s an emphasis on studying primary source documents and Christian character. There is also use of a timeline to help students understand where people and events fall in history.

I’m very much looking forward to this approach for my sons study of American history but I also want to make sure he gets a biblical and classical understanding of world history.

Mystery of History is a Christian Classical history curriculum. It follows the classical model of studying history chronologically. It presents history in a providential way showing the events of the Bible in their place in history.

Mystery of History (MOH) goes in a four year cycle.

Volume 1: Creation to the Resurrection

Volume 2: The Early Church and the Middle Ages

Volume 3: The Renaissance, Reformation and the Growth of National

Volume 4: Wars of Independence to Modern Times

Each text book works for multiple ages by offering various levels of assignments and further research for each lesson. MOH also incorporates the use of timelines to help students get a grasp on where people and events fall in the order of history and how they relate to one another.

In addition to the text books there are audio versions of the books students can listen to during their studies or on the go.

I’m looking forward to giving my son a comprehensive education in history from a biblical perspective.
